FBI: Zaragoza Bridge shooting, Mexico shootout not connected: or are they? Very confusing article
Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that FBI officials did not believe the car accident and the shooting at the bridge were related.
›› Officers fire on SUV at Zaragoza Bridge
EL PASO - The FBI says a Sunday morning shooting at the Zaragoza Bridge and a shootout between several armed men and Mexican law enforcement officers near the bridge are not connected.
FBI officials have been investigating the shootings because U.S. federal law enforcement officers shot at an SUV as it sped across the Zaragoza Bridge Sunday, said FBI Special Agent Martha Terrazas.
“The police were pursuing a vehicle that they thought was involved in a hit-and-run,” Terrazas said. “The vehicle fled through Mexico and fled through the Zaragoza port of entry.”
Both federal law enforcement officers and the police believe the SUV that fled a crash in the Lower Valley is the same one that federal law enforcement officers shot at.
Terrazas did not say why the FBI believes the shootings are not related.
The correction means that they DO think the incidents are related, right?
